Since 2000 Rooting Around has been keeping traditional music alive throughout Somerset, Devon and Dorset with their energetic live performances and richly textured recordings. Each of the four band members contributes creatively to the band’s distinctive sound, with their eclectic mix of Celtic, Eastern European, American and World Roots music.

Laurelie, Paul, Jim and Bill all make strong vocal contributions to the band as well as playing more than 20 instruments, giving them a versatility which is unsurpassed on the folk circuit. Their popular Irish jigs and reels are produced with a blend of fiddle, whistles, bodhran and accordion, whilst anything from banjo to balalaika, or South American cinco adds a world flavour to their diverse repertoire.

Their versatility is furthered by Laurelie’s accomplished calling for folk dancing, so that the band are equally comfortable performing at a Wedding or Ceilidh as they are in the local pub or in the intimate atmosphere of an Arts Centre.
